Age of Mythology: The Titans is an expansion pack that includes new end-game units, a new campaign, and an additional civilization to play as.

Ensemble Studios is one of the most well-respected real-time strategy developers in the world, and that company has produced dozens of games that have won countless awards over the years. If you are a fan of the original 2002 release of Age of Mythology, then you might want to take a closer look at The Titans expansion pack. This release follows the Atlantean storyline, and it is going to provide you with hours of additional gameplay.

Just like many of the other RTS titles released by Ensemble Studios, this game requires you to collect resources, research technologies, and build an army during intense matches against AI and human opponents. As a match progresses, your civilization will move through a series of four ages, and each age is going to unlock new skills and units. You must also choose a primary deity and demi-gods who are going to give you different bonuses and skills.

In The Titans expansion, the storyline transitions over to an Atlantean known as Kastor, and that individual just so happens to be the son of the protagonist from the original game. Before the campaign starts, you come to find out that the Titans have been released from their mythical prisons, and they are wreaking havoc on the Greeks, Norse, and Egyptians. In order to usher in a new era of peace, you must figure out a way to defeat the Titans or bring them over to your side.

Age of Mythology: The Titans has quite a bit of new content, and that includes the ability to play as the Atlanteans. That civilization unlocks unique units as well as some enticing new skills. Instead of training one or two named heroes in the matches, any Atlantean unit can eventually become a hero with enough experience. With that skill, Atlanteans are one of the best options for defeating powerful Titans.

The Titans themselves are now trainable units as well, and you will be able to take control of them in PvP matches and the last few levels of the campaign. Creating a Titan requires an incredible amount of resources, but the results are going to be worth it once they have been called. Defeating a Titan is nearly impossible unless you swamp them with a huge number of smaller units or have a Titan yourself.

Even though this expansion didn’t receive as many accolades as some of the other expansions that came after it, The Titans is still an excellent addition to your library. It will provide you with a few more hours of gameplay as well as an entire civilization to play as, new units, and a variety of new skills.
